CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Baiocassi. Late 2nd to mid 1st century BC. Stater (Electrum, 17 mm, 6.07 g, 9 h), 'au sanglier' type. Celticized male head to right, surmounted by a boar standing left and with strings of pearls coming out of the hair. Rev. Charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins in his left hand and long branch ending in a vexillum-like banner in his right; below, boar standing right. DT 2255 corr. (boar standing left not right on head). LT 6982 var. (boar standing right on head). SLM -. A very rare variety. Very fine.
